The award-winning Sackville Hotel is a warm and buzzing pub set on Balmain’s bustling Darling Street.  With a modern fit-out, this pub is renowned for its friendly regular crowd and up-market bistro. The large glass windows make the pub the perfect place to perch and watch the world go by.

The “Sacky”, originally built in 1876, is a Balmain institution and has something for everyone.  QC’s and tradespeople drop in for an after work drink or to catch big sporting events. Foodies enjoy the popular bistro menu, which is filled with all the old favourites: steaks, pasta and chicken dishes.  And when Balmain shuts down at midnight, a young funky crowd hits the Sackville for the DJ’s and late opening hours.

The attractive pub, with its yellow softly lit bar, dark wooden bar and floors, will be enhanced for the coming summer when a new courtyard will add more buzz to the Sackville Hotel. The bottleshop is still celebrating after being named Best Bottle Shop at the 2007 AHA Awards. The bottleshop offers an extensive range of boutique wines, craft beers and fine spirits. Regular tastings, winemaker dinners and a Loyalty Program ensure loyalty from a diverse custom base.

The history of the Sackville is as colourful as its locals.  Established in 1876 as the Bellevue Hotel, the publican lost the license three years later to the Rose, Shamrock and Thistle.  Legend has it the license was lost in a game of cards. The publican regained the license in 1888 and the pub was renamed the Sackville in 1900.

The Sackville Hotel has recently opened their new outdoor courtyard and and bistro area, come and check it out.
